Living Abroad in Australia

Our journey started before we even flew to Australia. In January 2015, we were living in Brazil and after some international trips, we decided that it would be a great time to live abroad, to experience a new culture and to learn English.

We had been working for about 8 years in the same companies, we had excellent jobs in Brazil but we felt it was time to take a career break to learn and travel. The initial idea was to do a 6-month English course in Sydney, Australia. But there was also a desire to develop our personal projects. Bruno, my husband, Art Director and Artist, wanted to work with his arts in Australia, and I would like in that time to add an international experience in my career.

It was then that we started researching about living in Australia and we found the Information Planet agency through a friend's recommendation. At our first meeting we liked how they worked and we had their support with everything about course, flights, acommodation. We had an excellent support from Information Planet both in Brazil and in our arrival in Sydney, which we consider a differential, because when you arrive in a new country it's difficult to know about some initial things like bank account, mobile, some rules and laws...and they helped a lot! So it's great to take an agency with an office in the city that you will live!

We studied English for the first 6 months at ILSC in Sydney and decided to extend our stay as we realized that there were many opportunities happening for us. Bruno's arts had a great acceptance in Sydney and he was invited to his first exhibition. After the exhibition, Bruno has painted the wall on one of the most famous beaches in Sydney, Bondi Beach and one of the most famous beaches in the world. He had also signed a contract with an important art gallery in Sydney.

Since we arrived in Sydney, we have been working on different types of casual jobs as well bars, restaurants, promotion until we get a job related with our career. Bruno was a few months working as an Art Director in a company when an opportunity to apply for Permanent Residency cames. The process took about 1 year between organising documents, English's test and application. We're really happy and glad to became a Permanent Resident in this country that we love!!!

As we were getting to know incredible places, I got the idea to start my personal blog - Hey Cassi - telling stories about my experiences at amazing places around Australia, Thailand, South Pacific, South America, USA and places that I'm visiting in my journey. Because of my blog and my professional experience, I got a job in a Digital Marketing and today I'm working helping other companies.

Now our plan is to stay in Australia for more few years always enjoying the life at the fullest!
